Today, I'm announcing SkinBit—a company born from my personal battle with melanoma and a realization that shouldn't have been surprising: dermatology has somehow missed the technological revolution transforming the rest of healthcare.
In 2020, while fighting melanoma, I was baffled. We live in a world of MRIs, robotic surgery, and AI diagnostics. Yet, skin cancer — the most common cancer with 50%+ of diagnoses worldwide — is still detected primarily through visual inspection methods from the 1970s. As someone who's built technology platforms that have transformed industries, this technological gap was unacceptable.
Just as Deezer changed how the world consumes music, SkinBit aims to completely disrupt how we detect and treat skin cancer. Our mission is clear: detect cancer so early that treatment becomes as simple as the biopsy would have been—minimal impact, no reconstructive surgery, and no life-altering scars.
I am extremely lucky to have Justin M Ko, Manuel Colom, Bill Dower, Ph.D., and Ilya Novoselskiy as my partners in this venture. Together, we are building a technology that creates a digital twin of your skin in under 60 seconds. We're not improving the current standard—we're making it obsolete through a seamless experience that eliminates unnecessary biopsies and endless waiting.
With dermatologist shortages projected to leave 50% of care needs unmet by 2030, the timing couldn't be more critical. By bringing professional-grade screening to convenient locations like medspas and imaging centers, we're democratizing access to life-saving early detection.
We will open our first location in the USA by the end of the year, so join our waitlist at www.skinbit.co to be among the first to experience the future of skin cancer detection.
I'd be grateful for your support by simply spreading the word or following us on our different social accounts: Facebook, Instagram and X. Together, we can transform skin cancer care and ensure that no one dies from a cancer that could have been detected early.
Don’t forget to protect your skin!
